PEARL CAYS

A group of 18 untouched tropical islands located about 35kms offshore from Pearl Lagoon along the Caribbean Coast, neighboring with the Corn Islands. Reachable by private boat “Cayos Perlas” provides one of the best natural settings of the Caribbean. Its white sandy beaches, blue turquoise waters and green vegetation blend perfectly to create a wonderful breathtaking landscape.

Some unique features of Pearl Cays include:

  • The Pearl’s Cays provide the fantastic opportunity for fine fishing catching snappers, grunts, nose-fish, barracudas, tunas, sail fish and other large games.

  • Some of these communities include the neighborhood of Orinoco, probably the second most important community after Pearl Lagoon; “Orinoco” was founded by John Sambola in 1912. The “Garifona” people, an interesting ethnic group spread on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, are a mix of the Arawaks, a South American tribe and African descendent. Besides Orinoco there are other six communities with strong Garifona presence including “Brown Bank”, a name given due to the color of the banks in this community, “La Fe”, “San Vicente”, “Justo Point” and “Wawashang”.

Activities:

  • Some of the islands can be visited where travelers can enjoy either swimming, reading a book, snorkeling, fishing or just letting the time go by while enjoying the soft breeze of the sea.
